Visakhapatnam,Nov 2: Maoists on Monday felled trees, on the ghat roads of Rajnagaram and Paderu disrupting the vehicular traffic in the agency area of Vishakapatnam district.Resenting the measures taken by the Government in deploying special paramilitary forces to eradicate the Maoists in these areas ,the rebel Maoists resorted to this type of action.According to the police sources, some of the workers engaged in the operation of removing the logs from the roads are not willing to come forward fearing serious repercussions from the Maoist forces. The ghat road connecting Paderu and Vishakapatnam is very important for the local tribals. That is the only highway through which they can reach the district headquarters of Vishakaptnam.
As a result of this road blockade scores of villages remain cut off from the state. It is the interior parts of the tribal areas which are hit by this episode as the sick people living in the interior regions cannot even reach the nearest Primary Health Centre to get first aid treatment in case of any serious aliment to the locals. However efforts are on to restore the vehicular traffic on this high way. As a precautionary measure the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has cancelled its regular operations in these areas.Of late the Maoists have resumed their operations in the state making their presence felt. Whatever their mode of operations may be, the Maoists will further lose the sympathy from the public if they resort such type of tactics as felling down green trees. In other words the Maoists action can be termed as destroying the nature instead of guarding the nature.
