Hyderabad,Nov 9:The Chief Minister,K Rosaiah,on Monday directed the officials concerned to take up relief and rescue operations on a war-footing in the rain-hit areas of  Nellore, Prakasam and Chittoor districts.Convening a review meeting with the Ministers and officials concerned at the Secretariat on Monday over the Floods caused by incessant rains in the last five days,the Chief Minister asked the administrative machinery of the concerned districts to keep a round-the-clock vigil and provide prompt relief to the affected people.The officials said 300 houses were completely damaged in the Floods and 9,500 handlooms submerged in Floods.

He directed the officials to relocate flood victims to safer places from low-lying areas and provide necessary medicines and relief materials to them.He said the administration would take up a thorough assessment of the flood losses in a day or two and it would take care of the families,whose houses were damaged in the Floods.Those in need of shelter would be provided with new houses, he added.He asked the officials to give relief to flood victims on the basis of norms set by the government.The district officials said 132 R&B roads and 193 roads under panchayat limits were damaged in the three districts.

The Agriculture officials said crops worth thousands of rupees were damaged in the Floods. Paddy and other crops in over 1500 acres were damaged in the districts,they said.He also directed the Roads and Buildings Department officials to repair roads in flood damaged areas on a war-footing.He told the officials of Irrigation Department to strengthen the bunds of lakes and canals to prevent leakages and further damage.Minister for Agriculture Raghuveera Reddy,Minister for Major Irrigation Ponnala Lakshmaiah and other officials were present in the meeting.
