Hyderabad,Nov 10: The State government will complete all pending Irrigation projects in Rayalaseema region by next June, stated Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Tuesday.Talking to media persons after convening a review meeting on Irrigation projects in Rayalaseema region with ministers and officials concerned at the Secretariat here, the Chief Minister said the Telugu Ganga, Gundlakamma and Guru Raghavendra Projects taken up under Jalayagnam programme, the brainchild of late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, would be constructed at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore.
Minister for Major Irrigation Ponnala Lakshmaiah said 2,80,000 acres would be brought under Irrigation after the completion of these projects in Rayalaseema region.The government will discuss with Union Forest Minister to get the clearance from Forest department for these projects.The pending bills of contractors, if any, would be cleared soon, he assured the contractors. The contractors' bills were kept pending in view of the global economic slow down, he stated.“The government will pay all pending bills soon and there is no need to worry about it,” he said.
