NH project offered to AP bidders

Hyderabad, Nov 19: The National highway Authority of India has asked potential bidders in Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat to submit qualification documents as part of a mega highway project involving an investment of Rs 45, 000 crore.According to sources, the Central government has planned ten mega highway projects on an estimated expenditure of Rs.45,000 crore, besides fast-tracking some of them by inviting interested bidders to submit qualification documents, called Request for Qualification (RFQ).

Of the ten contracts, estimated to cost around $1 billion each, would involve developing more than 4,800 km of modern highways spread over seven states.These projects would be awarded to private construction companies or corporations on a revenue-sharing basis, under which the developer pays a portion of the toll earnings to the government, an National Highways Authority of India official said.Sources have informed that the NHAI has asked bidders to furnish RFQ documents for two of the 10 projects, spread over Rajasthan, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
