Hyderabad,Nov 20:The state Government is in the forefront in implementing the projects and programs focused on the welfare of children’s health,education,and prevention of child labour to enhance the care,protection,and social upliftment of children in Andhra Pradesh.Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr K Rosaiah Releasing the World Children’s Report of 2010 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Child lauded the efforts of Unicef for publishing the Convention document in Telugu and Urdu.This would help the children of the state in a long way in educating the children on their rights.

Emphasizing on the rights of children,the CM said it is not just the responsibility of the Government and the Unicef  but it is the collective responsibility of the parents teachers and citizens to  ensure every child's rights to survival, development, protection and participation.Referring to the under privileged living in the rural areas  the CM  observed that  we  should  strive  to  close the gap between the  upper class of the  society  and  the lower class. The village and town population should be empowered to cope with the growing threats of global warming.  Speaking against  the discrimination of women  he  said that women should be empowered and the gender discrimination should be eliminated.Others  who  were  present  at the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights were  the  state representative of Unicef office for Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, Mr Michel Saint-Lot, the Principal Secretary, Women and Child Welfare, Ms Chaya Ratan, and other government officials.
