Spices centre at Guntur

Hyderabad,Nov 23:The Centre has decided to set up a spice park at Guntur as part of a drive to set up six parks in the country.This information was revealed to members during the question hour in the Lok Sabha on Monday.The Union Government has plans to set up six spices parks with all basic infrastructure for cleaning, grading, processing and packing facilities.

In a written reply to the House, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia informed that the spices parks are primarily meant to empower the spices cultivators through value-addition and quallity improvement along with linkage to various parts of the country.The parks will be set up in Guntur of Andhra Pradesh,Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu, Puttadi of Kerala and Idukki of Rajasthan among others.
