Pujari sacrifices life to save idols of temple

Nellore,Nov 27:A brave Pujari,who valiantly fought with dacoits,has laid down his life to save only the idols of the presiding deity.But the thieves decamped with the hundi.The incident took place at Krishna Mandir in Dattalur mandal of Nellore district on Thursday night.According to police,a gang of armed dacoits entered the Sri Krishna temple and tried to take away the invaluable idols and the hundi.

On learning about the miscreants entering the temple precincts, the Pujari arrived at the spot and firmly resisted the dacoits from removing the idols.The thieves then beat him up mercilessly following which he died on the spot.On sensing that the Pujari died,the miscreants gave up the plan to lift the idols but ran away with the hundi consisting of the offerings of the devotees.The local police booked a case and spread a dragnet for the escaped dacoits.The body of the Pujari has been handed over to the kin after the post-mortem.
