Muralinath (40), a resident of Lingojiguda in Saroornagar, was sent to New Delhi on July 20 to work as car driver with the family of OCTOPUS (Anti-terrorist force), Additional Director-General Vivek Dube.

But, on Sunday, the constable’s family members received the shocking news about his death. What angered them even more was the news that Muralinath’s last rites were also performed without the body being handed over to them.

Talking to media persons on Monday, Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said that Commission would be headed by Additional Director General of Police A K Khan and submit his report to the government.

Irate relatives of Muralinath under the aegis of Dalit organisations staged demonstrations in front of the Amberpet Police station and Central Police Lines headquarters here protesting the death.

“How can the authorities bury the body without our consent? There is something suspicious about his death,” Muralinath’s brother Prem Das alleged.

A complaint was lodged with the Amberpet Police. Mr Das said his brother had called his wife Kavita once and told her that ‘Mr Dube’s family members were harassing him.’
