Hyderabad,Dec 29: The Commissioner and Director of School Education has been directed by the state government to incorporate the name of the mother instead of their father’s in the case of students belonging to the ‘Jogini’ community  in the admission registers of all schools and colleges in Mahabubnagar district. The State Government issued orders to this effect on Tuesday, in order to ease the inconvenience for children of ‘Jogins’,as managements of some educational institutes were insisting on the father’s name of a child for admission.

The GO was issued after the Mahabubnagar District Collector and Magistrate appealed to the government to consider the matter since there has been an increase in the number of children from the Jogini community taking admission in educational institutes like RBCs, government and private residential schools and colleges. The ‘Jogini’ system is prevalent in Mahabubnagar district and the GO is limited to inclusion of the mother’s name to children of the ‘Jogini’ community only.
