Hyderabad, Jan 7: Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Thursday convened a meeting of all concerned officials to review the arrangements to be made at Medaram for the bi-annual Sammakka Sarakka Jathara to be held from January 28.As lakhs of devotees are expected to turn up for the bi-annual festival, the Government is proposing to press 2,600 buses into service for the Jathara.According to sources, the authorities are planning to deploy 7,000 policemen to control the crowd during the festival.
Two massive bus bays - one for alighting and the other for boarding - are being planned for the convenience of the pilgrims who are expected in large numbers.A temporary police station and a huge camp for the top police officials are being planned for the bi-annual festival.Posters and CDs in connection with the Sammakka and Sarakka jathara were released on Thursday by the Chief Minister.
