Hyderabad, Jan 12: APGenco has been told to expedite work on Vijayawada Stage IV (500MW), Kakatiya Stage I (500 MW), Rayalaseema (Stage III) and Kothagudem (Stage VI) thermal power projects so that they can be commissioned by the end of November 2010, by the Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Tuesday.At a high-level meeting with APGenco officials, the Chief Minister pointed out to them that if ever-growing demands of power are to be met, the APGenco should start immediate work according to the milestones set during the preparation of blueprints for the generation of an extra 6,700 MW of power by 2014.
Mr Rosaiah directed the officials to draft the plan of action with clear-cut milestones so that the target of commissioning and operationalising projects like Odarevu Phase-I 1,600 MW, Phase-II 2,400 MW and the Karimnagar gas-based Power Project 700 MW, hydel-power based projects Polavaram, Dummugudem and Kanthanapalli generating 1,400 MW; Singareni 600 MW so that the target of 6,700 MW power generation could be attained on schedule.Mr Rosaiah directed the officials to complete Bhupalpally, Kothagudem, Rayalaseema Thermal Power Station as per schedule before the end of 2010 and ensure that 1210 MW is added before this year. He also asked the AP Genco officials to expedite the proposed power plants at Rayalaseema, Kakatiya and Krishnapatnam.
