Telangana Government Poor Job In Controlling COVID 19

Telangana Government Corona Containment Measures

Waking up belatedly, the Telangana government recently announced a slew of measures for effective management of COVID-19. It appears to have realized that it is woefully wanting in measures needed to rein in the Coronavirus, following trenchant criticism of its policies which gave scope for the infection to spread far and wide.

In contrast, Andhra Pradesh government went for extensive testing in the beginning of the pandemic to get to the bottom of the problem and deal with it rather than limiting tests to a few suspects and live in a make-believe world that Coronavirus was on the wane.

Even after announcing to conduct 50000 tests in 10 days and the High Court frequently slamming for low virus testing, the state government is still conducting fewer cases. After going for reasonable testing for last few days, there’s huge spike in cases for last few days. In one day alone, the state registered 499 cases which is the largest number so far.

The state government is also facing flak for troubling government officials, farmers and also others. Government officials are still being paid half salaries, wherein AP govt is paying full salaries. The Telangana government proposed implementing a policy that will not allow farmers to avail minimum support price (MSP) and input subsidy under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, if they do not follow the state's suggestions.

Besides, the state government passed an ordinance to private hospitals not to take up cases on Aarogyasri scheme. The poor who already are in dire straits due to financial crunch due to lockdown are shocked to see hospitals refusing to take up cases on the scheme. The government instead is releasing a maximum allowance of Rs 1 to 2 lakhs through CMRF (Chief Minister Relief Fund) for major surgeries, irrespective of total bill.

Going by the governments actions in recent times, it is not at all worried about the welfare of poor or middle class people.
