Hyderabad, July 17:-
The CBI court on Friday adjourned the fake passport case of mafia don Abu Salem to August 4.
Abu Salem, who is facing several charges in Mumbai and Hyderabad was brought to the city from Mumbai amid tight security and was produced before the CBI court at the Nampally Criminal Courts Complex on Friday. He is facing the charge of acquiring a passport after producing fake address in Andhra Pradesh.
“The court has issued the summons to the main witness but since he sought time to be present before the court the case was adjourned to August 4,” the Public Prosecutor said.
His counsel even informed the court that the TADA Court in Mumbai, where the mafia don is facing some charges, has given the necessary permission allowing Abu Salem to be lodged in a Hyderabad jail.
However, the CBI has objected to lodging Abu Salem in Hyderabad jail in view of a serious threat to his life from many of his rivals as he is an accused in several cases.
After hearing both the parties on the matter, the CBI Special Court said that the case will be studied once the process of the examining the witnesses begins on August 4.
