Alludu Seenu Review

Behind the Movie Alludu Seenu: Son of a mighty producer debuting as hero, two top heroines in glamour feast, one of the industry’s successful director dealing the subject, three acknowledged writers penning the story and dialogues and a champion music director offering the mass tunes, what else can be a bigger combination than all these? So, let us get into the review of this lucrative product.

In the Movie Alludu Seenu: Story starts with introduction to Narasimha (Prakashraj) and his ‘Alludu’ Seenu (Sai Sreenivas) escaping from money lenders land in Hyderabad mistaken as Chennai. Soon, Seenu’s eye falls on beautiful girl Anjali (Samanta), daughter of local mafia don Bhai (Prakashraj) who is just look alike of Narasimha. To exploit the situation, Seenu begins parallel business showing Narasimha as Bhai to make quick bucks. 

Meanwhile, Anjali’s marriage is fixed with Bhai’s business partner Bhanu (Pradeep Rawat)’s son living in Sharjah. However, Anjali falls for Seenu with a loose romantic track. Twist in the tale arrives with revealing of a secret that Narasimha, Bhai are brothers and Anjali is actually Narasimha’s daughter. What is the past which led to divide between good man Narasimha and criminal minded Bhai is the flashback. 

Seenu takes it as a challenge to make both ends meet and sketches a plan using Dimple (Brahmanandam), PA to Bhai and Peda (Ravibabu), PA to Bhanu. Rest is how did they break Anjali’s marriage and how Bhai, Bhanu are punished?

Values of the Movie Alludu Seenu: In Telugu, audiences enter into theater based on the trustworthiness in brand of a hero or director. Vinayak being major pulling force for this film, his trademark treatment was inconsistently visible throughout to boast Sai Sreenivas as the next mass hero in the making. Big hype and buzz surrounding this film was nothing less than entry of a star hero’s son. Sai Sreenivas seems to be well trained in heroism establishing areas of dances and stunts. Other than these two, neither Vinayak nor viewers could find more positives. Story from Bobby, Kona Venkat is a routine fare with familiar treatment involving zero novelty. Screenplay is also in quotidian format with no enthusiasm generation and low excitement quotient. Kona and Gopi did not cross their conventional mode of writing skills using too much of cinematic liberty and a beaten Brahmi’s character development. Credits to Chota K Naidu’s emblazoning of grandeur displayed with lavish sets and magnificent locations. Every song was a sumptuous feast for eyes. Goutham Raju’s editing was also a button down. We are habituated to DSP’s body of work and one can rate it as safe and average. Supreme quality of production is sustained all along the length and Bellamkonda should be indebted.

As said earlier, Sai Sreenivas looked too good in some areas and too weak in portrayal of artistic emotions with impuissant dialogue delivery. Being the first film, Sai can be chiseled into a better artist with passage of time. For a debutant this is in fact a good score. Samanta bleeds with extra dose of skin and has nothing to perform except accompanying the hero. Though Prakashraj is in dual roles, his characterizations missing to register properly with patrons explain the hollowness in script, story and narration. Brahmanadam as Dimple raised laughs here and there is into his natural style. Ravi Babu too has a bit of share. Pradeep Rawat is quite regular. Thanikella Bharani, Raghu Babu, Vennela Kishore, Praveen, Nalla Venu etc filled the screen. Tamanna’s item is just ok.

Out of the Movie Alludu Seenu: For any debutant hero, a director like VV Vinayak leading from front is more of a blessing. So, Sai Sreenivas had a big and established crew to elevate him as a mass and commercial hero. However, their attempts are just half baked and half ruined. Until and unless, Srinu Vytla and Vinayak come out of Kona, Gopi and Bobby apparatus, commercial Telugu cinema will be at a stand still position. Vinayak is an expert in juicing comedy adding the needed commercial ingredients to make a full fledged Telugu cinema. This time, there is an imbalance rolled out in the form of a stale product with no where each of them living to their brand value. Entire show of more than 150 minutes looked dry and misfabricated with null emotions.  

Despite all these, ‘Alludu Seenu’ is a more appropriate and readymade launch platform arranged for Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas to excel from here on. Commercially, there is no solid reason to compare Sai’s debut with Ramcharan, Mahesh Babu or others. Anyways, Bellamkonda Suresh had the guts to dream Sai on par with Star Sons and future will decide where Sai really stands in the race.
