Atharva (2023) Telugu Movie: Story Review

Atharva unfolds the gripping tale of Karna (Karthik Raju), an individual driven by an unwavering determination to make a mark in the world of law enforcement. Hailing from Warangal, Karna's ambition to become a police officer faces a setback due to his asthma condition. However, guided by the wisdom of an elder, he conquers the challenges, cracks the entrance exam, and secures a position in the biometrics department of the Clues Team in Hyderabad.

Karna's innate investigative prowess soon comes to the forefront as he actively aids the police in solving a case. However, the narrative takes a compelling turn with the shocking murder of the popular heroine, Joshni (Ayraa Jain). While the official verdict attributes her death to her boyfriend, Karna, sensing an undercurrent of mystery, harbors suspicions of foul play.

The storyline delves into the intricate layers surrounding the case, weaving together the threads of suspicion and intrigue. As Karna digs deeper, connections emerge, involving key characters such as Sara Varghese (Kalpika Ganesh) from the clues team, the seasoned police officer Gnanavel (G. Marimuthu), the intrepid TV reporter Nitya (Simran Chowdhary), and the enigmatic industrialist Raghuveer Chandra (Kabir Duhan Singh).

The narrative unfolds like a riveting puzzle, inviting the audience to decipher the mysteries that lie beneath the surface. With each revelation, Atharva promises a rollercoaster of suspense and unexpected twists, as the characters become entangled in a web of secrets and hidden motives. As Karna navigates through the labyrinth of the investigation, the film keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, eager to unravel the truth behind the perplexing events that unfold.

Atharva Telugu Film: Artists Review

Karthik Raju's dedication to his role in Atharva is evident through the sincere effort he puts into his performance. His ability to convey a spectrum of emotions and express the pain of the victims through his eyes is commendable. His body language and dialogue delivery are solid, showcasing a promising foundation for his craft. While he has demonstrated a strong presence on screen, there is room for growth, and with continued hard work, he has the potential to ascend to the next level in his acting journey.

Simran Chowdhary, portraying the role of a journalist, exudes a captivating presence on screen. Her performance aligns well with the demands of the character, and she handles the responsibilities of a journalist with decency and authenticity. The visual appeal combined with her portrayal adds depth to the overall narrative.

Kalpika Ganesh shines in her role as a member of the forensic team, bringing credibility and authenticity to her character. Ayraa Jain, in her significant role, contributes effectively to the unfolding story. Marimuthu's performance stands out with its variations, adding a layer of nuance to the film.

Although Kabir Duhan Singh has limited screen time, his impactful presence is felt. Gagan Vihari and Arvind Krishna deliver performances in line with the requirements of their respective roles, contributing to the overall cohesion of the cast.

In essence, the ensemble cast has played their parts well, contributing to the narrative fabric of "Atharva." With Karthik Raju leading the way with his earnest effort and others delivering noteworthy performances, the film benefits from a well-rounded and committed cast.

Atharva Telugu Movie: Technicians Review

Atharva, crafted by Mahesh Reddy, revolves around a protagonist embedded in the clues team of the police department, a group responsible for gathering crucial evidence for investigating officers. The film unfolds with a promising premise, hinting at the challenges and intricacies of crime-solving. However, as the narrative progresses, certain cinematic liberties are taken, particularly noticeable due to the hero's affiliation with the clues team.

Despite an engaging start, the plot occasionally loses its focus amid a love track, diverting attention from the central storyline. The first half manages to salvage itself with a decent interval block, leaving the audience with a hopeful anticipation for the second half.

Regrettably, the director falters in delivering an improved second half, leaving logical gaps and subjecting viewers to repetitive and illogical scenes that test their patience. The decision to conclude the film with a lead to a potential sequel raises questions among the audience, detracting from the satisfaction of a complete cinematic experience. The storyline, unfortunately, follows a routine and predictable trajectory, and the screenplay lacks the innovation needed to elevate the film.

While Sricharan Pakala's music aligns with commercial trends, featuring a couple of impactful mass beats, the placement of songs disrupts the film's pacing. On the positive side, his background score adds substantial value, enhancing the impact of various scenes. Charan Madhavaneni's cinematography stands out, transforming the film with a visually rich appeal that elevates the overall cinematic experience. Dialogues, though decent, could have been more impactful. SB.Uddhav's editing is satisfactory in the first half, but it loses its track in the second half.

Despite some drawbacks, the production values remain commendable, contributing to the film's overall quality. In summary, Atharva has moments of promise but falls short of its potential due to script and narrative shortcomings, with technical aspects serving as both strengths and areas for improvement.

Atharva Movie: Rating Analysis

In essence, Atharva unfolds as a conventional crime thriller. Director Mahesh Reddy endeavors to spotlight the pivotal role of the clues team in solving the case, and in this aspect, he undeniably succeeds by providing a thorough depiction of the investigative process. Notably, a couple of scenes stand out, capturing the attention of the audience. However, as the narrative progresses, a sense of predictability gradually takes hold.

The film's potential is hindered by a lack of meticulous attention to the screenplay and script. Addressing these foundational elements could have altered the overall viewing experience significantly. While certain moments manage to engage and intrigue, the overarching predictability diminishes the impact that Atharva could have had.

Taking into consideration these critical elements, Cinejosh assigns a rating of 2.5 to Atharva. Despite the commendable effort to shed light on the nuances of crime-solving through the clues team, the film falls short of achieving a more compelling and gripping narrative due to script-related shortcomings. As the audience reflects on the movie, it becomes evident that a more refined approach to storytelling could have elevated Atharva to a different level of cinematic excellence.
