Behind the Movie Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu: Young hero Nani, after the success of ‘Ashta Chemma and Ride’ has become the latest heart throb of female audience. Little girl Saranya Mohan was given good marks for ‘Village Lo Vinayakudu.’ With both of them as a pair in love mixed with a story that revolves around a young batch of Kabaddi players, this Tamil remake is considered as a creative product from RB Chowdary of Mega Super Good Films. Let us see, how good was his team of Kabaddi players?

In the Movie Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu: Suri (Nani), is a young lad who loses his poor agriculturist father at a very tender age in the village of Bheemili. With force from village landlord, Suri’s mother surrenders him to work as a goat herd. From his childhood days, Suri is passionate about the Kabaddi game and his gang of friends Paidithalli, Shekhar, Devudu, Ammoru, Dhanaraj and two more form a team to represent their village at all the Kabaddi competitions. It is to their tragedy that, this team never had a win in their history except against Uppada team.

It’s the time for Bheemili village annual carnival and these players invite Uppada team for the match but this one also proves a disaster because Uppada villagers hire talented  substitute players from other villages to beat Bheemili team. During this match, Suri and his team get into a friendly relation with senior coach Prakash (Kishore).

A nameless girl (Saranya Mohan) from Rajahmundry comes to enjoy the carnival and falls in love with Suri…that’s love at first sight. Now, their eyes start to speak with smiles every where and they get close to each other. As the carnival ends, she goes back to Rajahmundry. Even Bheemili Kabaddi team also goes to same town to participate in State level Kabaddi competition.

With the help of senior coach Prakash, Bheemili team gets their entry into the competition at last minute. Now, a silly fight between Prakash and his Hyderabad team makes the coach to divert his attention towards Bheemili. Training and motivation from Prakash makes Bheemili team the best contender for cup. In parallel, on and off the field Bheemili team starts facing their rivals who even try to divide the team members based on caste and financial status.

Finally it will be the journey of Bheemili Kabaddi Team to the shores of victory with a great sacrifice and this forms the interesting and emotional climax which is to be watched only on the big screen.

Values of the Movie Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu: Strictly Tatineni Satya, script writer and director is the real captain and real winner of this team. The way he brought down the nativity of rural back drop and the way he moulded the Tamil story to suit Telugu people wins the applause of audience. Movies of this kind need a tight screenplay and a strong back ground music; both are well achieved. Selva Genesh’s back ground score lifted the spirits of movie while the same was not repeated for songs. Camerawork by Chitti Babu has well caught the beauties of village setup and this takes you on a pleasant journey into Bheemili village. Editing by Nandamuri Hari was adequate and served for the movie. Production values by Megaa Super Good Films are in equal level with what the story has demanded.

Performance wise Nani has shown maturity in dealing with a character which has less dialogues. Most of the time Nani has to bring the feel based on emotional excellence and he has done it with ease. With childish face and innocence dominating in Saranya Mohan, the sensitive love thread between hero and heroine was weaved very well. Kishore, the coach of Bheemili has done the key role which is commendable. Remaining of the cast are all new artists and they contributed heavily to their Bheemili team.

Out of the Movie Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu: Experiments on big screen with stories based on sports are always a risky attempt. With a proved script in Tamil, Tatineni Satya has well handled the movie. Though there are some crude elements of rural set up which are showcased as it is like; costumes, drinking habits, vulgar language, ethnicity and rigid caste system…but these really made a worth for entire output. First half was entirely dealt with less of Kabaddi and more of Love thread between the lead pair. Second half, once the team enters Rajahmundry story takes a little momentum which ends finally in a pure tragic and experimental climax. Mistake from director point of view is that when a movie is dealing with sport like Kabaddi, he hasn’t made any attempt to educate people about the game. It was all a direct attack on opposite team.

After watching movies like Chak De, Goal and Lagaan which are made on very high budgets, movies like ‘Bheemili’ may not be appealing from commercial angle but the sincerity in portraying the human emotions and rural relations is all which make this movie very differential in experimentation.

Performances of artists, directors vision, real village back drop, shocking climax are considered positives for Bheemili; too much of nativity, experimentation to the core, less commercial elements, weak songs may disturb few of the audience.

Cinejosh Verdict of the Movie Bheemili Kabaddi Jattu:  Refreshing experience in a journey to triumph
