Artists, Technicians Review

Director Sushant Reddy came with a romantic entertainer to attract movie lovers. The proceedings start in a normal manner with the college scenes between Megha Akash and Arjun Somayajula. The narration starts at a slow pace and then comes the real twist. Proceedings pick up the pace with the entry of Arun Adith. When situations turn dull, he with his exuberant performance lived the scenes. The first half ends in a decent manner setting the stage for the second half. For all the romantic elements and Arun's lively performance, the first half doesn't offer anything new. However, the songs made a beautiful impact and the cinematography made a lasting impression.

The second half picks up the pace with interesting developments and love blossoming between Megha and Arun Adith. Emotions are highlighted quite well and both Megha Akash and Arun did well. Emotions reach peaks in the pre-climax scenes and so too are the performances of Megha Akash and Arun Adith. The climax twist leaves the viewers to shell shocked. Despite all the shocking twists and turns, one gets a feeling that the climax has been rushed. It is known that Dear Megha is a remake of Kannada's hit Dia. Director Sushanth made subtle changes and kept the soul intact.

For all his efforts, Sushanth failed to liven the proceedings in the first half. Many scenes in the first half turned out to be dull and the screenplay did not inspire any confidence. Even the performances of Megha Akash and Arjun Somayajulu in the initial scenes did not make any impact and they in fact ended up testing the patience of the viewers. Megha Akash however livened the proceedings in the second half with her performance in the second half, especially in the pre-climax. Arun Adith tried to carry the film on his shoulders. He made his presence felt with his lively performance initially when he tried to impress Megha and later expressed and emoted well as a lover and then experiencing the heartbreak. Despite the hard work from the cast, one gets a feeling that the emotions and soul is missing in the film unlike in the original.

Andrew used the camera angles in a beautiful manner and captured the scenic locations of Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Goa in an attractive manner. All the scenes presented a visual feast to the movie lovers. Hari Gowra's music is beautiful and the songs pierce the hearts. All the songs are well shot and are beautifully placed. His background music elevated the scenes taking viewers into the movie. Production values are good.

Rating Analysis

Director Sushant Reddy tried to attract viewers with a romantic entertainer which shocks all. He ticked most of the boxes right while remaking Kannada hit Dia as Dear Megha. However, all his efforts, slow pace, sluggish narration in the first half, dubbing, and few actors who couldn't elevate the proceedings, impacted the output. Though he made up for it in the second half, getting the optimum from the actors especially in the pre-climax and climax, and also beautified the film with lovely songs and youthful elements, the film still lacked the soul of the original and turns out to be a roller coaster ride. Considering all these aspects, CJ goes with a 2.5 rating for Dear Megha.
