Geetha Govindam Review, What’s Behind:

Expectations are certainly high on Geetha Govindam, since it is immediate release for Vijay Deverakonda after the sensational Arjun Reddy. Minimum guarantee director Parasuram helmed and prestigious Geetha Arts bankrolled this flick while Chalo beauty Rashmika Mandanna is paired opposite Vijay. Will all these positives help the film to repeat Arjun Reddy result? Let’s see in review part…

Geetha Govindam Story Review:

Vijay Govindam (Vijay Deverakonda) is an innocent and honest guy working as lecturer has high regards for females. He has some good fantasies about fiancée and marriage. Love at first sight happens for Govindam when he finds Geetha (Rashmika Mandanna) at a temple. Their first interaction in a bus journey is unfortunate as Geetha misunderstands him. Coincidentally, Vijay’s sister (Mouryani) is engaged to Geetha’s elder brother (Subbaraju). How Govindam tackled the circumstances till his sister’s marriage and when dis Geetha realise the true character of Govindam forms crux of the story.

Geetha Govindam Artists, Technicians Review:

Parasuram is known for wholesome entertainers has come up with a regular story but penned few hilarious dialogues. Parasuram’s luxury at handling witty situations is found in Vijay’s character design. In fact, the film looked fresh just because of engaging, entertaining screenplay. He gave at best to show Vijay Deverakonda in a new and complete contrast avatar to the latter’s role in his previous film Arjun Reddy. While Vijay was a rebellious and spoilt youngster there, he is  innocent and responsible person here in Geetha Govindam, such a complete contrast. Cinematography by Manikandan is top notch. Marthand K Venkatesh’s editing is acceptable though we find some dull moments at times. Gopi Sundar’s musical score stands out to be best in recent times but picturization is not that pleasing. Super hit Inkem Kavali is shot with regular montages. Production standards from GA2 are first class.

Onto artists, Vijay Deverakonda is a versatile actor. He gave another wonderful performance proving that he can justify any given characterization. His innocence and the way he tries to convince Rashmika brings lots of laughs. His terrific comic timing dominated the show from start till end. In fact, this is right choice for Vijay to have pickwd such subject right after Arjun Reddy and GG will surely take his stardom to next level with family audience, especially females too turn his fans. Rashmika Mandanna is not striking but played the role of Geetha with perfection. Vijay and Rashmika shared wonderful chemistry. Subbaraju and Mouryani are decent. Nagendra Babu couldn’t make his presence felt, perhaps due to bad dubbing. Rahul Ramakrishna played yet another hilarious role as Vijay’s friend. Vennela Kishore is funny in last portions. Nithya Menon and Anu Emmanuel appeared in cameos. Other artists played their roles neatly.

Geetha Govindam Review Rating Analysis:

Vijay Deverakonda is not a one or two film wonder. He is here to stay long. His transition from Arjun Reddy to Geetha Govindam is unbelievable. His journey as Govindam to prove his innocence to Geetha is a fun ride. De facto, Parasuram has put the entire weight on Vijay’s shoulders and if not Vijay the film would have appeared like another template family, romantic entertainer.

Vijay’s very first dialogue “Car Lo Mandunda” shares an impression that he is still in Arjun Reddy hangover. But, we are proved wrong in no time. His daily routine of showing one particular scene from Bharateeyudu to friends describing greatness of a married woman tips off his characterization. His dream about traditional marriage and expectations from wife in early days after marriage in Thellavare song are delightful. This honest and simple person becomes a negative figure for Rashmika with a single incident. Whatever Vijay does, Rashmika hates him as the pain Vijay goes through is well handled. Thanks to Parasuram’s writing and Vijay’s stellar show. A simple interval promises more fun in the offing in second half.

Into the latter part, Vijay exhibits his singing talent with What The F where he also showed the dancing skills. Rashmika realizes her mistake and starts adoring him all of the sudden with an incident which is meant to show his real character. This is a routine stuff but Parasuram made it regular to join romance between the leads. Then Vijay’s lecture to Rashmika about marriage is unnecessary and wrongly placed. In this part, Vennela Kishore comedy is hilarious. Finally, movie ends on a happy note with Vijay- Rashmika hot act.

All in all, Geetha Govindam is a decent family, youth entertainer and Vijay Deverakonda’s Rowdies will enjoy watching him in a completely contrasting character. This film is not just meant for his admirers even female patrons will love this one. CJ goes with 3 rating just because of Vijay’s one man show and Parasuram’s hilarious writing.
