Behind the Movie Kalavar King: After ‘Happy Days,’ young hero Nikhil has been continuously hogging the limelight and proved his worth with successful ‘Yuvatha.’ On par with the image of Nikhil is the ‘Koththa Bangaru Lokam’ girl Swetha Basu Prasad has also become one of the most discussed heroine’s of Tollywood. With these two young lads joining up for this ‘Kalavar King,’ audience have expected at least a marginal entertainer with loads of energy. Does this ‘Kalavar King’ really stand to its title?

In the Movie Kalavar King: Rajesh (Nikhil) is the son of a middle class school teacher (Kashi Vishwanath and Pragatahi). Rajesh’s main job is to make loans everywhere in the town and lead the life bindaas with that collected money. He neither has a job nor any qualification and is just a burden to the family. Unfortunately he meets the girl Shruthi (Swetha Basu Prasad) who is struggling with her personnel life which is related to her marriage.

Narendra Shetty (Ajay), bad man of the movie is the husband of Shruthi’s elder sister who brutally kills her to remarry beautiful Shruthi. Unknowingly Rajesh gets into this trap of Narendra Shetty and Shruthi’s family matter and now he is decided to save this girl from this criminal villain. During this process, Rajesh’s life style is changed; he becomes a responsible son and even wins the love of Shruthi. From now on, how did Rajesh tackle Narendra Shetty and his side kick police officer Shankar (Raghu)? How did Matabu (Raghu Babu) and Khan (Ali) help the hero? form rest of the story.

Values of the Movie Kalavar King:
First of all story, screenplay and direction by L. Suresh are total failures. Considering story wise, we can’t say it has any story line to really base upon. Screenplay was so uncooked that again you feel, is there any script work done for the movie. Direction was very weak and insipid. Photography by Balamurugan was not up to the mark and same applies for editing by Marthand K Venkatesh. Music by Anil.R has no life in it except the last song. Production values also looked quite substandard.

Nikhil is no doubt power house for the movie but his continuous wagging face, routine expressions, regular dance moments, non striking dialogues and boring fights have depressed the interest of audience. Swetha Basu Prasad looked very hefty before the lean personality of Nikhil and there was no spark in their romance. It was only in the last fifteen minutes of the movie that their love bond develops, which is not justifying. Ajay was again at his routine, what we have seen him from the times of ‘Lakshmi Kalyanam.’ Kashi Vishwanath and Pragathi have done their parts well. To provide some laughter, Raghu Babu, Venu Madhav, Ali, Sattenna have tried their best but were of no use.

Out of the Movie Kalavar King: First and fore most doubt is that, why was this movie named as ‘Kalavar King?’ With no royalty in any aspect of this movie making, ‘Kalavar King’ is just a misnomer. Director attempting to most ugly techniques of using the oomph of Swetha Basu Prasad in an odd manner in the last song showcases the pity situation the movie. If Nikhil’s positive energy didn’t get a proper vent, it was Swetha Basu Prasad and her glamour which was totally unused and of course misused in some places too. All in all, ‘Kalavar King’ is a boring product which tests your patience with low quality and meaningless drama. If first half of the movie is disappointing, second half was just better that too only by the comedy touch offered.

Cinejosh verdict of the Movie Kalavar King: A below average movie which failed to utilize the positive energy of Nikhil. With movies like ‘Ye Maya Chesave’ and ‘Inkosari’ in the fray, no surprises ‘Kalavar King’ may very soon loose the battle without offering any resistance.
