Laggam (2024) Movie: What's Behind

Sai Ronak, known for his ability to embrace diverse roles, is back with his latest offering, "Laggam." Directed by Ramesh Cheppala, the film released on October 25th, 2024. Will this new venture showcase Sai Ronak's versatility and captivate movie lovers?

Laggam (2024) Telugu Movie: Story Review

Laggam story revolves around a software engineer and his journey with a village girl whom he loves and the developments in their journey and how their parents and relatives react and the role they plays. "Laggam" Follows a Farmer's Dream for His Daughter's Happiness, Leading to Unexpected Turns

"Laggam" centers around Sadanna (Rajendra Prasad), a farmer living in a village in Telangana. Inspired by his nephew Chaitanya's (Sai Ronak) successful life as a software engineer in Hyderabad, Sadanna sets his sights on a similar future for his daughter, Maanasa (Pragya Nagra). He arranges for their engagement, securing the consent of both families.

However, this seemingly joyful occasion takes a shocking turn, setting the stage for a compelling narrative. The film explores the reactions of Chaitanya's parents (Rohini and Vadalamani Srinivas), Maanasa's grandfather Ramayya (LB Sriram), and other key characters as they navigate this unexpected twist of fate.

Sai Ronak's Laggam Movie: Artists Review

Performances Shine in "Laggam": Sai Ronak, Pragya Nagra, and Rohini Deliver Notable Performances. "Laggam" features a talented cast, each contributing to the film's overall appeal.

Sai Ronak portrays a software engineer with charm and charisma. He delivers heartfelt expressions as a son and a lover, showcasing his range as an actor.

Pragya Nagra, stunning in traditional attire, brings grace and elegance to her role. Her performance is engaging and effective, showcasing her screen presence.

Rajendra Prasad shines as a father yearning for a software engineer as his son-in-law. He brings his signature blend of humor and warmth to the role, creating memorable moments.

However, it is Rohini who steals the show with her impactful performance and undeniable screen presence. LB Sriram also delivers a touching performance, adding depth to the film.

The supporting cast, including Kaveri, Raghu Babu, Sapthagiri, Chammak Chandra, Kireeti, Krushnudu, Racha Ravi, Chitram Srinu, and Prabhavathi, all contribute effectively to the film, bringing their characters to life.

Laggam (2024) Telugu Film: Technicians Review

"Laggam," directed by Ramesh Cheppala, attempts to weave a heartwarming family drama against the backdrop of an engagement and the lead-up to a wedding. The first half showcases traditional rituals and customs alongside youthful elements, effectively highlighting the blend of family values and contemporary life.

A twist at the end of the first half sets the stage for an emotionally charged second half. Cheppala delves into the poignant theme of a woman's self-respect and differentiates between pity and genuine love. However, while the concept is intriguing, the story unfortunately falls into a predictable pattern.

While the film features some engaging and impactful scenes, the screenplay could have been more dynamic and captivating. The direction, while decent, could have benefited from a sharper focus. The film ultimately ends on a predictable note, leaving viewers wanting more.

On the technical front, Mani Sharma's background music adds depth to the scenes and enhances the narrative. Charan Arjun's songs seamlessly fit the situational context. Bal Reddy's cinematography is noteworthy, capturing vibrant colors and natural beauty through his camera angles. However, Bonthala Nageswara Reddy's editing could have been tighter, as some scenes feel drawn out, impacting the film's pace. The production values are commendable.

Overall, "Laggam" offers a glimpse into a family's journey, touching on relatable themes of love, respect, and tradition. However, the film ultimately falls short due to its conventional storytelling and predictable narrative. While the director's intent is commendable, the lack of originality in the script and screenplay prevents "Laggam" from achieving its full potential.

Laggam Movie: Advantages

  • BGM
  • Cinematography
  • Highlights rituals, traditions

Laggam Movie: Disadvantages

  • Familiar Story
  • Predictable Narration

Laggam (2024) Movie: Rating Analysis

Altogether, Laggam turned out to be an emotional Romantic family Entertainer. While "Laggam" explores the interesting themes of pity and love, the film ultimately falls short due to a predictable storyline and conventional screenplay. Director Ramesh Cheppala's vision for the film is admirable, but the lack of depth in the script and a lackluster screenplay prevent it from achieving its full potential.

Had the script been refined and the screenplay injected with more dynamism, "Laggam" could have emerged as a far more impactful and engaging experience. As it stands, the film feels formulaic and fails to captivate the audience. Cinejosh, considering these shortcomings, awards "Laggam" a rating of 2.25
