Mahanubhavudu Review, What’s Behind:

Sharwanand is habituated to spring surprises for every big festive season. After Express Raja and Shatamanam Bhavati, here comes Mahanubhavudu in Maruti direction, produced on UV Creations banner with Mehreen Pirzada as heroine while SS Thaman scored music. Let us see, how great is this film to score a hit in Dasara season when two biggies are already in battle field?

Mahanubhavudu Story Review:

Anand (Sharwanand), a software engineer suffering with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) checking the cleanliness in him-self and surroundings repeatedly falls in love with colleague Meghana (Mehreen). When Meghana’s father Rama Raju (Nasser) comes to city to meet Anand and finalize his daughter’s marriage, a twist in the tale connected to Anand’s weakness leads his journey to Meghana’s village to win his love by participating in a local wrestling competition.

Mahanubhavudu Artists, Technicians Review:

A full length feature film running on protagonist’s OCD is a new and untouched genre in Tollywood. With an innate scope to generate loads of fun on hero characterization, Maruti succeeded to the most in penning a story and screenplay centered wholly on Sharwanand’s obsession for overt cleanliness. Though few episodes appear to have gone over the top yet refreshing chemistry between Sharwa, Mehreen on one side and entire fun in village kept the show thoroughly entertaining. Maruti’s direction more or less followed the Bhale Bhale framework to keep the film clean and firmly targeted at families. Dialogues are rib tickling at many places, especially in village scenes.

Nizar Shafi extended his bright, colorful and professional camera work by one more film. His framings in songs are top class. Kotagiri’s editing is conventional yet made a mark in cutting the OCD scenes. SS Thaman is one key pillar whose music took the film to next level. While songs are really soothing, RR offered something new which one cannot expect regularly from Thaman. To be more pin pointed, RR for climax fight stood very expressive. Production standards from UV Creations are top notch and makers spent the budget very lavishly.

About artists, Sharwanand is very apt as lover boy and OCD personality. His comedy timing had more of natural flair. Emotions too, Sharwa proved that he is very much in race. Styling made him look much more handsome. Mehreen was inconsistent looks wise. Both on acting and glamour front, she could not match Sharwa’s elegance. Nasser as usual played a village head and adorable father with ease. Vennela Kishore, Bhadram as Jiddesh entertained throughout. Raghu Babu’s brief character also went on hilarious lines. Rest of the artists may not need a big mention.

Mahanubhavudu Review Positives:

Sharwanand

OCD Concept

Fun Throughout

2nd Half Village Episodes

Mahanubhavudu Review Negatives:

Predictable Screenplay

Slow Beginning

Formulaic Second Half

Mahanubhavudu Review Rating Analysis:

After making Bhale Bhale Magadivoy as laughter riot, Maruti struck to his self made template of cashing on hero’s disorderly weakness. Though Mahanubhavudu’s overall framework resembles Bhale Bhale to larger extent, it’s the fun ride well blended with romance and emotions bought the best out of Maruti again. Yes, laborious situations created within the story to ripe enough humor helped film to enjoy a great deal of adoration among family audience.

Beginning was a little sluggish because audience sitting in pre-text of Bhale Bhale will not like the slow proceedings and settled comedy in hero and his OCD introduction. Despite the slow startup, Maruti convinces us by appending more and more OCD attributes with slow and steady fun continued even after Mehreen’s love track is established. Entry of Nasser, Bhadram and inaugurating the village backdrop was a ritual process laying seeds for climax to come. Interval point runs high on emotional conflict between Sharwa, Mehreen. As an actor, Sharwanand scored big in this part.

Into second half, Maruti did not experiment much. He ripped many popular and proved situations from Kushi, Adavari Matalaku Arthale Verule and so on when Sharwanand lands in village. Nevertheless, comedy in these portions is a clean and neat flare up which actually can be the major strength for film to work in Box Office terms. Maruti also adopted a safe route for climax with an extensive fight followed by an emotional tinge.

All in all, Mahanubhavudu has many positive factors to work in its Box Office favor, agreed that there are a few pitfalls too. Maruti made well-use of Sharwanand’s image to chalk out a clean and neat wholesome family entertainer in the best to sell Dasara festival season. Nothing to hesitate, if you are willing to watch a movie with entire family… Mahanubhavudu is the best bet and CJ goes with 3 stars. Let Box Office speak the rest.
