Nenu Local Review, What’s Behind: Natural Star Nani’s combination with director Trinadh Rao Nakkina, music composer Devi Sri Prasad and producer Dil Raju made ‘Nenu Local’ one of the excited projects. After a weak ‘Majnu,’ this is the fresh outing from Nani. Let us see, how entertaining ‘Nenu Local’ is?

Nenu Local Story: Local lad Babu (Nani) is a carefree attitude guy with absolutely no goal in life makes a happy living with middle class father (Posani) and mom (Eashwari Rao). Completing B. Tech after writing many supplementary exams, Babu falls in love with Keerthy (Keerthy Suresh) and joins her in MBA. As usual, Keerthy is impressed with Babu’s character and is on the verge of expressing her love. Twist is Keerthy’s typical father (Sachin Khedekar) selects Police Officer Siddharth Varma (Naveen Chandra) as best choice for his daughter. How Babu resolves the problems around and wins his love is rest?

Nenu Local Artists and Technicians: From story perspective, ‘Nenu Local’ is a cocktail of too many hit formulae like ‘Idiot, Cinema Chupista Mava, Arya, Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’ and others. Pick a microscope and evaluate every scene, one can’t find a novel element to excite us. Yet, ‘Nenu Local’ breezes off with an entertaining narration held at all the ends by Nani. Writer Prasanna Kumar and director Trinadh Rao adopted a safest route to complete this project without straining the resources. Working a script based on hero’s strengths made ‘Nenu Local’ securing producer interests. Trinadh Rao’s skill lied in lifting the best worked out scenes from recent hits and stitching them to one thread was Prasanna Kumar’s job done. Dialogues although lengthy at times, Nani’s timing made them sound just near to perfect. Devi Sri Prasad’s ‘Next Enti’ and ‘Arere Yekkada’ songs are instantly catchy, BGM is a routine work. Nizar Shafi replicated the same camera work of BBM here too. Prawin Pudi’s editing made illogical scenes to really look logical with hurried sharpness. Production standards from Harshit Reddy, Dil Raju are worth appreciative.

Onto performances, what to say about Nani? He is yet again fluent spilling the ease and energy throughout. His mass histrionics sometimes went overboard but manageable. Comic timing, body language and dialogue delivery with decent modulation, all in all he is a show stealer. Keerthy Suresh hasn’t got a character of her caliber. She just supported Nani with some hot saree looks in ‘Arere Yekkada.’ Naveen Chandra makes grand action interval entry and gradually lost steam in second half. Sachin Khedekar rehashed Murali Sharma from BBM. Posani and Eashwari Rao are thoroughly entertaining. Tulasi does her job. Rao Ramesh is the climax link thread. Prabha Srinu and others were ok.

Nenu Local Advantages:

Nani

DSP Songs

Dialogues

Nenu Local Disadvantages:

Routine Story

Predictable Screenplay

Second Half

Illogical Liberties

Too Many Inspirations

Nenu Local Rating Analysis: Biggest credibility Nani enjoys among audience is his films are less boring and more entertaining. Agreed ‘Nenu Local’ is made with a tested formula but it worked to major extent because of dialogues and scenes aimed at college going youth. Content aside, it’s the commercial outlook of the film counts at Box Office and Nani’s image is best put to use.

Right from the word go, we are glued to an age-old treatment bottled with new dialogues. Nani’s college comedy is refreshing and concept of ‘Next Enti’ song is youth aimed. Keerthy Suresh’s entry and Nani’s tricks to impress her are insipid. Meanwhile, Keerthy’s father track resembles more with BBM and CSM. Before ending the interval on an enjoyable time pass note, comes in Naveen Chandra opening the space for second half conflict.

However, ‘Nenu Local’ second half struggles with irrational episodes making the proceedings slow down and predictable. Episodes like Luxury Vs Happiness or Nani showing his local power in PS went overboard unnecessarily overstretched. All of sudden, a serious climax with Rao Ramesh back into scene was silly and unconvincing. Every character except Nani lost its spine in the climax.

Overall, ‘Nenu Local’ is a strictly average product for common audience and viewers who love freshness However, Box Office predictability with respect to Nani’s dynamism, light heated humor, neat dialogues and DSP made the film an above average product and CJ goes with 2.75 stars. Bottom line is, Nani slowly moving into a danger zone restricting him-self to methodical scripts. Time for Nani to have a 3.25 film like BBM else he is at a stand-still image. Commercially, ‘Nenu Local’ is a safe bet at ticket counters.
