Behind the Movie Paisa: Quite a long delay happened with the release of ‘Paisa’ due to several unnecessary issues. Finally, the Krishna Vamsi directorial with Nani, Catherine Tresa in leads has hit the screens today with morning show. Let us see, what KV is preaching here in his own format.

In the Movie Paisa: Story sets in the backdrop of Hyderabad Old City introducing Sherwani Model Prakash (Nani)’s urge to earn more money. Instead of following the narrow or illegal short cut routes, Prakash dreams for procuring huge Cash with simple tricks. There is innocent muslim girl Noor (Catherine Tresa) working in same Sherwani shop loves Prakash madly. Twist comes in the form of Political Minister Sanyasi Raju (Charanraj)’s Hawala money of Rs.50 Crores reaches Hyderabad to fulfill his desire of becoming CM. Around the same time, Noor’s marriage with an old Dubai Sheikh is spoiled by Prakash and his friends with the help of Sanyasi Raju’s daughter Sweety (Siddhika Sharma).

To escape from Dubai Shekh’s goons, Prakash and friends breakout with the same SUV in which Rs.50 Crores are hidden. With Police (Raja Ravindra) on one side, Dubai Sheikh’s Goon (RK) on one side, Sanyasi Raju’s group on other side, cat and mouse chase game traverses to an interesting and exciting climax.

Values of the Movie Paisa: Coming straight to point, Krishna Vamsi’s concept of showing everything in this world revolves only around money is realistic and the same is presented with a cinematic expression. Lot of homework done with screenplay was evidential in many portions showing the trademark of KV in treatment. The irregular tint used in Santosh Rai’s cinematography was little straining and did not elevate the opulence. Editor Thyagaraj has done a neat work in second half, though there were some jerks here and there. Sai Kathik’s background score hypnotized the strength in scenes. Especially, in chasing and on the run episodes, his work was delightful. Nevertheless, Sirivennela and Ananth Sreeram’s lyrical value cannot be underscored in songs. Writing team has also done a tremendous job with pure old city slang incorporated in dialogues. Finally, production values of Ramesh Puppala and Yellow Flowers banner are measurable.

Performance wise, Nani breathed superb energy into the character. He was affluent throughout in delivering the dialogues, performing the stunts or in key emotional sequences. One shot of Nani finding Rs.50 Crores money packed in black covers in back of car was shot awesome showing the true acting prowess in Nani. Heroine Catherine Tresa is beautiful and did not have any strong characterization. Siddhika Sharma served a hot dose of bikini glamour. Of the rest Charanraj, Raja Ravindra, Duvvasi Mohan, RK, Bharath Reddy as young politician did a fair job. A special mentioning is also needed for Nani’s Taxi and Bike driver friends.

Out of the Movie Paisa: To sum up the positives, this is truly a Krishna Vamsi brand film after a long time. Beyond comparisons with his earlier super hit films, ‘Paisa’ is a decent project from him in recent times. There is a clean and witty amalgamation of strong message, sweet romance, cruel politics, hot glamour and lot of action too. Apparently, first half was dragged unnecessarily showing a flat graph in narration. Dialogues failed to blast in few crucial times. However, all the wrong-dos go for a hit as we begin second half on high pitch and pace never dropped then on. Like past films of Money, Anaganagaa Oka Roju from RGV camp, all the characters and sub threads converge in climax to heighten the excitement. The real thrill was admittedly felt in last half an hour.

Commercially, ‘Paisa’ might be a safe venture for Yellow Flowers if proper promotions are planned. As audience considered the product stale, strong positive mouth talk can only lift the business. Watch ‘Paisa’ with least or no expectations, it’s sure you can feel the right KV kick.
