Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Review, What’s Behind: Top star Salman Khan is teaming with his favorite director Sooraj Barjatya nearly after a decade and more. As Prem, we are very much familiar with Salman in Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aap Ke Hain Kaun and Hum Saath Saath Hain. This is fourth collaboration of Salman as Prem and Sooraj. There is Sonam Kapoor, Anupam Kher and others to make this film a festive fare. Let’s get deep into PRDP with the review.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Story: The narration takes off from magnificently erected city of Ayodya where Prem Dilwala (Salman Khan), a part of Ram Leela group is introduced pleasantly. On the other side is Princess Maithili (Sonam Kapoor), managing an NGO helping the needy. Ever since Prem meets Maithili at a relief camp, he falls for her beautiful looks. Twist in the tale, Maithili is already engaged to Pritampura Yuv Raaj Vijay Singh (again Salman Khan) and they are set to marry very soon.

Vijay Singh has a troubled family life with strained relations between step brother Ajay Singh (Neil Nithin Mukesh) and step sisters Chandrika, Radhika (Swara Bhaskar, Aashika). Into the property disputes, Vijay wants to re-unite the family with his marriage. However, Ajay Singh has different plans to eliminate Vijay Singh. Thankfully, their Diwan (Anupam Kher) saves Vijay from accident and ropes in Prem as Vijay Singh, the would-be king. How the good preacher Prem clears the family tussles of Vijay? Whom will Maithili finally marry…Vijay or Prem?

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Artists and Technicians: Like every product from Rajshri Productions, this one is full of grandeur in settings, dazzling costumes, soothing music, lovely characters and assurance of a wholesome family watch. Unfortunately, Sooraj Barjatya’s poor selection of story and slowpoke screenplay has although affected the viewers but for sure his directional traits aren’t changed from what they where during MPK times. The way he teaches those family values and moral preaching episodes are heartwarming. However, second half could have been far betterly dealt than this one owing to poor pre-climax and climax. Dialogues offered an authentically Northern flavor. Himesh Reshammiya and Sanjoy Chowdhury’s music is biggest asset; so is Manikandan’s cinematography portrayed the film in colorful manner. Especially, BGM was a comfy. Editing by Sanjay Sankla should have managed a better deal in whole of second half. Then the production values of Rajshri and Fox Star are just marvelous.

When Salman is Prem, you can’t stop falling in love with his character. Thanks to Sooraj for continuing the same good natured similarities of Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ to Prem in PRDP. He is so pure at heart and smile; funny and emotional. As Vijay Singh too Sallu Bhai showed a superb transition in body language. Undoubtedly, Salman Fans (especially lady Fans) will have a treat for their eyes. Sonam Kapoor does justice to the role, which though cannot fit into the charm of Madhuri Dikshit or Bhagya Sri or even Karishma Kapoor. Of the rest, Neil Nithin Mukesh and Armaan Kohli haven’t shown any negative attributes in their antagonist roles while Swara Bhaskar, Aashika excelled. We can’t let out to mention Anupam Kher, the brilliant actor. Rest showed their presence.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Rating Analysis: From commercial point of view, PRDP should indispensably open to earth shattering openings. Additionally, Diwali festive season easily pushes the ticket counters to cut their books in bunches. There is a routine story and impoverished screenplay marring a flow in narration. At the same time, Barjatya films show their backdrop and artists in idealistic situations. For contemporary audience, this looks seriously wrong when they cannot find any practicality in execution. If cinema is treated as something bigger than life, then it is fine and acceptable to take home some very good moments. Family get together meets, expressing the heart touching emotions, cute romance, sweet frierndship… Barjatya serves a total package of own style.

Apparently, contextual situations are forcibly inserted to drive a flavor which is again a reason for malaise. Every time when cinema gets into boredom with overtly injected melodrama, Salman enters into the frame lifting the spirit with his magical performance. In that sense, he is alone the savior. Missing in explanation of basic reasons behind Vijay Singh’s family feuds crept in the in-convincingness. If run time of the film is cut down by at least 30 minutes or more, our pain would have seldom decreased. For those who loves watching soap operas on small screen, this can be an easy connect.

In contempt of many drawbacks, Barjatya supplemented into this weak story and dragged down screenplay… Rajshri trademark triumphs over. While the result of PRDP in Telugu (Prema Leela) can’t be speculated with this review, for sure Bollywood is going to spin money in the name of Prem, the character created by Barjatya only for Salman. Carrying the possible best features into analysis, Cinejosh rates PRDP with 2.5 stars for the double impact.
