Ra Ra Krishnayya Review

Behind the Movie Ra Ra Krishnayya: Hero Sundeep Kishan enjoyed the success of 'Venkatadri Express' had lot of hopes on this flick with Regina as heroine and Mahesh Babu as director with Achu scoring the music. Jagapathi Babu, Kalyani add to the cast. Let us see, how far Krishnayya has spread the magic?

In the Movie Ra Ra Krishnayya: Story begins in Chennai with straight forward and genuinely hardworking Kittu (Sundeep Kishan) working as cab driver at his owner Manikyam (Tanikella). Kittu saves 6 Lakhs at Manikyam to buy his own car only to get cheated. To get his money back from Manikyam, his daughter Nandeeshwari aka Nandu (Regina Cassandra) is kidnapped by Kittu demanding a ransom of 15 Lakhs. Surprise element is, even Nandu is waiting for a right chance to run away from home to escape the forcible marriage arranged by her dad with 'Sambar' Aravind Swamy (Satyam Rajesh). After a big chase, Kittu and Nandu land in Kerala where romance begins to shape up. Entry of Brahmaji (Brahmaji) and kidnap of Nandu is the sudden twist. Now, Kittu travels to his own town because Nandu is kidnapped by his own elder brother Jaggu Bhai (Jagapathi Babu), who runs their family's traditional business of kidnapping. Why Kittu is staying away from Jaggu? What happened to Manikyam? When did Kittu react to the love of Nandu? All these form rest.

Values of the Movie Ra Ra Krishnayya: To put it right, 'RRK' is purely a case study of how one technical department can pull off the entire film so smoothly when other departments become absolutely subjacent. It's the cinematography of Sreeram which stood as the main highlight keeping the narration alive. While story and screenplay have nothing to mention great about, Mahesh Babu's direction goes aimless and purposeless with Over Aravam kind of comedy in first half. In second half, things look much better until a predictable screenplay takes it to a trash ending. Needless sub threads, goalless characters and immature handling of scenes killed the flavor. Looks like, Mahesh Babu has completely wasted the liberty offered by producer. Music by Achu is awesome for title and first songs. BGM wise, he has done a fine job. Once again, I can give top credits to Sreeram's camera work while Marthand's editing is blunt. On production front, Vamsi Krishna Srinivas has spread the grandeur on screen with high budget compared to hero's market. 

Performance wise, Regina has stolen the show with diverse emotions and a sweet skin show. In fact, she has dominated hero Sundeep in many scenes. Their chemistry was just rocking in title song. This girl is growing big with each film and can easily get into top league if bags chance besides star heroes. Sundeep Kishan smoothly walked into his character. He is lot more improved in dances and sentimental scenes. Jagapathi Babu is wasted in a weak characterization although his scenes with Sundeep are well dealt. Kalyani, Tanikella, Brahmaji are fine while Satyam Rajesh, Tagubothu Ramesh could not produce humor. Of the rest, there is nothing significant.

Values of the Movie Ra Ra Krishnayya: I need to start with drawbacks first and put the first blame on weak plot, weaker screenplay and weakest direction. Beyond the main story line, irrelevant and inessential ingredients take driver's seat. Entire Kerala episode is worth to scrap. Instead of developing a romantic track, story journeys into a false and un-happening path with no entertainment. Just the lavish budget and pompous show bottom rungs the human emotions. Presence of Regina is the only reason why audience might keep their attention on screen. Jagapathi Babu's selection has definitely gone wrong this time. He should be more careful from now on before signing a deal. For any section of audience, this isn't going to impress. 

Overall, if first half is drier with no stuff, second half is a little better. BO wise, chances of movie to recover the budget spent are remote. After a hit like 'Venkatadri Express,' this is a mistaken pick for Sundeep.
