Behind the Movie Raghuvaran B Tech: Tamil hero Dhanush did not have much of positivity in Telugu. None of his film fared well in Tollywood. Starring Amala Paul as heroine, Velraj debuted as director in Tamil with this hit film. Let us get into review.

Behind the Movie Raghuvaran B Tech: Story kicks off establishing Raghuvaran (Dhanush), as unemployed Civil Engineering Graduate sitting pretty at home from four years. He doesn’t wish to work in any other job unrelated to his profession of construction field. Meanwhile, Raghuvaran’s younger brother Karthik becomes a Software engineer earning good bucks. Raghuvaran has close bonding with mother (Saranya) while dad (Samuthirakhani) treats him as burden. Other than enjoying time with jobless friends, Raghuvaran also falls in love with neighbor Shalini (Amala Paul). Tragedy strikes Raghuvaran family when his small mistake leads to sudden death of mother. From here on, a depressed and guilty felt Raghuvaran tries for change with the help of a construction company owner’s daughter Anita (Surabhi). In fulfilling a noble task of constructing a 200 Crores budgeted building, Raghuvaran faces several professional hurdles.

Values of the Movie Raghuvaran B Tech: From any aspect, this is a one man show of Dhanush who excelled in every department. Hats Off to Velraj for bringing the best out of Dhanush with a superbly etched character. Story has something unique and something really popular. It’s purely screenplay which does the magic. A director needs to be visionary in extracting the best qualities in each characterization. Velraj does well because he gave enormous screen presence for each and every role designed. Dialogues although being dubbed, provided enough of funny moments in first half. Comic timing of Dhanush and sharpness of Velraj were entertaining in first half with a mild dose of romance. Real play of emotions, drama, sentiment and action lead the predictable second half.

Tamil directors are especially talented in putting up totally contrasting first and second halves. Velraj smoothly changes the mood of movie with strongly written episodes. There are also noteworthy feel good moments to offer a tenderly touch. Luckily Velraj himself is the Cameraman and he judged the frames accordingly. Rajesh Kumar’s editing lacked the polish in second half. Anirudh Ravichander BGM significantly left a mark relative to main score on songs. Production values of Sravanthi Movies are also pretty good.

About performances, Dhanush was at superb ease and re-approves the statement on why he is called as best among South Indian film contemporaries. May it be the romance with Amala Paul or mother-son sentiment with Saranya or father-son emotion with Samuthirakhani or having fun as careless and jobless graduate or taking the challenges in professional career, he was simply superb. Amala Paul was cute in girl next door role and she managed a cute chemistry with Dhanush. On comedy front, Vivek did a fine job. Saranya, Samuthirakhani were realistic. The man who has done antagonist as son of top builder was not a strong opponent. Surabhi did a cool job in second half.

Out of the Movie Raghuvaran B Tech: Raghuvaran B Tech is a winner from Dhanush point of view. He was thoroughly entertaining us in first half with loads of funny moments which are easily to strike a chord with Graduate unemployed. Film stands on big merit when seen from first half. Velraj kept the narration mild and dodgy in second half with boredom added in few portions. Never to mention, there was more of Tamil Paithyam added during interval block and rest of second half. Here and there, Rajini style was also inculcated to Dhanush.

Gauging the show in overall, Raghuvaran B Tech is formula film with decent entertaining stuff. It has every masala to attract all the sections of audience. Problem is, it’s a dubbed version and you cannot connect with Telugu nativity. Commercially, this could end as a safe product for sure.

Cinejosh Verdict of Raghuvaran B Tech: Exam Passed.
