Sudigadu Review

Behind the Movie Sudigadu: Expectations are quite high on this flick due to the most successful trailer and the factor of comedy king Allari Naresh. Let us see, how far Bheemaneni went so special in this spoofing tale?

In the Movie Sudigadu: Feared for life in the hands of faction leader Thikkal Reddy (Jayaprakash Reddy), family of Kamesh (Allari Naresh) gets separated in the village Seema Puram. While Kamesh and his wife (Hema) take shelter in Thikkal Reddy’s house, their son born with six pack body Shiva (Allari Naresh) and grand ma (Kovai Sarala) escape to Hyderabad. Here, the boy grows on to become a perfect Telugu Hero with super natural powers. Along with college friends Robo, Remo and Rambo (MS, Kondavalasa and LB Sriram), Shiva falls in love with college-mate Priya (Monal Gajjar). When Priya’s father (Sayaji Shinde) is ready to offer his daughter’s hand to Shiva, question of his parents arises. On advice of his grand ma, Shiva goes all the way to Seema Puram to take on goons Thikkal Reddy, his sons and an underground don Di. How did Kamesh’s family song unite them forms the rest.

Values & Out of the Movie Sudigadu: The true and only strength of this film is Spoofing. There is nothing more than this. Bheemaneni neither had a story nor script in hand to complete the film. Everything looks random with no grip in narration. Director seems to have concentrated only on generating laughs with imitations of star heroes and their block buster films. Parody might work for a scene or two or for five or ten minutes. When you fill the entire length of run with only parodies, unfortunately audience are tend to get bored, finally with nothing like a story or message to take home. Same happened with ‘Sudigadu’ which looked quite interesting in first few minutes of first half slipped away gradually only to end as a tired attempt. Dialogues penned by Bheemaneni sparkled here and there. Cinematography of Vijay Ulaganath was decent while Gowtham Raju’s editing never looked in place for second half. Music by Sri Vasanth was good for title song and ‘Zara Zara.’ Background score is a mix masala of all Telugu hit films. Production values of Arundhathy Movies are worth to appreciate.

Performance wise Allari Naresh left no scope to point a finger. His comedy timing is as usual great and carried the total movie alone on his shoulders. Monal Gajjar is glamorous. Among the other Jayaprakash Reddy and Sayaji Shinde are regular. MS, LB, Kondavalasa, Krishna Bhagawan, Ali managed to bring some laughs while Brahmanandam as ‘Jaffa Reddy’ alias CBI officer Jafaf Roy was silly act. Of the remaining Hema, Kovai Sarala, Jyothi, Fish Venkat, Srinivas Reddy, Dharmavarapu, Jeeva, Chalapathi Rao etc are just okay. 

Commercially, there are chances of ‘Sudigadu’ to entertain lower class mass audiences in B & C centers. For intelligent audience, this might look like a piece of trash. Especially, the episodes of ‘Omkar Aata Show’ and ‘Thigh Slapping School’ imitating Balakrishna’s ‘Palnati Brahmanaidu’ stood out. If Bheemaneni added more of some conviction and a better screenplay with more interest generating story, ‘Sudigadu’ could have done the trick brilliantly. For now, this one stands only as a below average treat. On comparison basis, first half is far better than second. If first half provided enough entertainment in major portions, second half went bizarre with complete fall in graph. Don’t mention about climax. It is an utter disappointment spoiling the fun moments of total flick.
