Vedaa (2024) Movie: What's Behind

Bollywood action hero John Abraham is coming to drive all crazy with his upcoming film Vedaa. The film directed by Nikkhil Advani stars Sharvari Wagh as the female lead. Let us find what Vedaa offered to viewers on 15 Aug 2024.

John Abraham's Vedaa: Story Review

Vedaa story is about a young woman from the lower class trying to realise her dreams against all odds and how she over came the obstacles in the process. Abhimanyu Kanwar (John Abraham) returns to his village Barmar, Haryana and joins as a assistant coach in boxing in a college. He remains a silent spectator as the lower caste people are oppressed and suppressed even as honor killings increases. Where this leads to and how it is connected to student and aspiring boxer Vedaa Berwa (Sharvari), Sarpanch Jitendra Pratap Singh (Abhishek Bannerjee) and what is the past of Abhimanyu as a Major in Indian Army and his wife Rashi (Tamannaah Bhatia) form the rest of the narration.

Sharvari Wagh's Vedaa: Artists Review

John Abraham enacted his role quite effortlessly. The role is tailormade for him and showed the right intensity and tenacity. He enacted action sequences apart from playing the subdued part for most of the first half. Sharvari Wagh performed her role quite well as an aspiring boxer who undergoes the sufferings silently and then showing her resilience in the later half. Tamannaah Bhatia appeared in a cameo and she is ok in her role. Mouni Roy sizzled red hot in a special song. Abhishek Bannerjee looked menacing like a silent killer. Others like Ashish Vidyarthi performed well.

Nikkhil Advani's Vedaa: Technicians Review

Vedaa story penned by Nikkhil Advani is a predicable action entertainer. Nikkhil Advani tried to highlight the case system prevalent in the interior parts of the country and also showcase how a young girl braved all odds to become a boxer and how a former Major from Indian army helped her. Right from the start till the finish, everything turned predictable and the screenplay and direction lacked novely. He took his own time to establish the characters and conflict for the entire first half and second half is full of predictable action sequences.

Nikkhil Advani could have added few more interesting elements and twists and turns to capture the imagination of all. But he seemed to have been dependent on John Abraham's stunts along with Sharvari Wagh. A tighter screenplay and few tweaks in the script would have added value.

The music tuned for the songs are just average. The Mouni Roy special song Mummy Ji makes all groove to the beats. Background music of Karthik Shah is in sync with the storyline and he came up with thumping BGM. Editing of Maahir Zaveri is below average. The slow pace in the narration test the patience of the viewers. Dialogues are just ok and production values are good.

Vedaa: Advantages

  • John Abraham, Sharvari Wagh
  • Mouni Roy Special Song
  • BGM

Vedaa: Disadvantages

  • Predictable Plot
  • Flat Narration

Vedaa (2024) Hindi Movie: Rating Analysis

Altogether, Vedaa turns out to be another run-of-the-mill action entertainer. John Abraham is sincere in his role and so did Sharvari. But director Nikkhil Advani came up with a pretty ordinary predicable story with no real twists and turns. Considering all these points, Cinejosh goes with a 2 rating for Vedaa.
