Veerudokkade Movie Review

Behind the Movie Veerudokkade: Tala Ajith, the strong hero of Kollywood is still struggling for developing a new market in Tollywood. After an average show from ‘Arrambam,’ here comes ‘Veerudokkade’ in direction of Siva. Let us see, how far this Veerudu has won the game?

In the Movie Veerudokkade: Story is about Veerendra (Ajith) and his four brothers who always indulge in violent fights and in turn saved by lawyer Bail Penchalayya (Santhanam). However, the bond between five brothers is so strong and young ones look at their elder Veerendra with lot of respect. In the same village lives Veerabhadram (Pradeep Rawat) and it’s the usual dominancy action game over the encroachment of market. On romantic front, four brothers already in love decide to first get Veerendra married and make him fall in love with childhood crush Gomati Devi (Tamanna). Though initially reluctant, Veerendra gets attracted to Gomati Devi and meanwhile Veerendra punishes Veerabhadram for his sins.

Now, the next task of Veerendra family is to travel Gomati’s place to meet her father (Naazar) who has a bloodshed flashback filled on rivalry with Nagaraju (Atul Kulkarni). In order to impress a non-violent and peace loving Naazar, Veerendra and his brothers change their look and attitude. When Veerendra’s real action loving character comes to fore, the planned marriage goes on rocks. But, there is Nagaraju to make it a regular and happy ending with high voltage action. 

Values & Out of the Movie Veerudokkade: For any mass masala commercial package, the one major advantage mandatorily must be hero and Ajith walks away with whole lot of credits. Director Siva and story writer Bhoopathi Raja cooked a complete parcel here with family emotions, sweet romance, dare devil stunts, peppy numbers and slapstick comedy. Like many of Telugu films, ‘Veerudokkade’ is just for name sake a dubbed film else this is a Tolly Masala. Director Siva’s ability in kicking up the heroism was superbly shown in pre interval train fight which is the best portion in film. In fact, the screenplay was deliberately made sluggish with lots of comedy in first half just to take the trajectory up in pre interval block. Vetri’s camera work is top notch when it comes to canning the songs and catching the punch in action scenes. Kasi Vishwanathan’s editing is adequate work. Coming to Devi Sri Prasad’s music, although songs are not so catchy, it’s the BGM which stood on big advantages for making ‘Veerudokkade’ a thorough entertainer. Production values of Vijaya Production and Bheemavaram Talkies are satisfactory.

What to say about Ajith. He is perfect jigsaw fit for the character which had all shades. Never to miss on the courage and excitement he adds for risky stunts in every film. The same is done here too. Tamanna is ravishing with extreme glamour dose offering a treat for audience of all ages. Santhanam’s comedy was average while Pradeep Rawath was crueler than villainy of Atul. Then Naazar walks through his character smoothly. All the four brothers did a good job in sync with Ajith. 

Films of this genre are generally pertained to Telugu star heroes like Ramcharan, Junior NTR etc. In contrast, Siva shifted the premise to Chennai and selected Ajith. This is purely a film for Fans of Ajith. If the same would have tried on Telugu hero, result could have been positive. As Ajith is not a strong opening puller in Tollywood, makers must gamble on extra promotions to make ‘Veerudokkade’ reach at least a section of mass audience. Nevertheless, Siva is a director specialized in this kind of treatment and this one reapproves the statement. Without questioning the logics and hitting the terminology of cinematic liberties to a big six out of ground (today is the T20 Word Cup match between Ind Vs Pak), if you want to enjoy a commercial pot boiler give a try.

An idiosyncratic finding in Tamil audience pulse is, even a highly experimental ‘Bhadram’ was patronized well and a mass masala ‘Veeram’ has also grossed the top figures at Kollywood BO. If you are a class and innovative thinker, ‘Bhadram’ is for you and for others ‘Veerudokkade’ is waiting.
